DailyNinja, a Bangalore-based hyperlocal delivery startup, has announced the acquisition of WakeUpBasket for an undisclosed amount in a cash and stock deal. The development comes a couple of months after it acquired milk and daily essentials delivery platform 4amShop.
As a part of this acquisition, DailyNinja will absorb the team of WakeUpBasket along with its founders. All the customers will now be a part of DailyNinja as well. The development comes within a month of DailyNinja’s $5 million funding round led by Matrix Partners, along with the participation from existing investors Sequoia India and Saama Capital.
WakeUpBasket was founded in 2015 by Satendra Pratap along with Sai Varaprasad and started operations in 2016. The startup claims to clock about 2,500 orders daily in Hyderabad. The deal will help DailyNinja to have a stronghold in Hyderabad as the company has been looking to expand its horizon in Hyderabad for a long time.
On the other hand, DailyNinja was founded in 2015 by Sagar Yarnalkar and Anurag Gupta. It provides early morning delivery everyday essentials and claims to have reached close to 40,000 households daily, with a monthly active user base of close to 55K households in Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
In this segment of hyperlocal delivery, Bangalore-based DailyNinja competes against the likes of Milkbasket, Doodhwala, Town Essentials, RainCan, and BigBasket among others. Also , a major retailer, Future Group, is also set to start its delivery service for daily essentials.
