Newyork-Based firm Lorem Tech has secured $1.1 million in its seed round of funding which was led by Flybridge (Chip Hazard). The round also saw participation from Founder Collective (David Frankel) and a few angels which include Randy Parker (Founder of Constant Contact) and Fred Townes (author of one of the most popular WordPress plugins called W3 Total Cache).
Founded by Sam Wilcoxon and Charlie Fogarty in April 2016, Lorem Tech offers quick and affordable expert help for small/medium business owners who need assistance with their website and don’t have the time, desire, or ability to do it themselves. The company offers their service via an “instant help” button embedded inside WordPress and Squarespace websites that connect customers to web developers.
The company claims that they connect companies to the freelancers in under 30 seconds in order to provide an immediate solution for their current needs. Lorem is focused on the small and medium scaled industries.
You download the Lorem plugin into your Word Press or Squarespace website. When you need help, all it takes a click of a button to be connected to one of their on-demand web freelancers in under a minute. From there, you can chat via text or voice and use screen-sharing to quickly explain the task needed and agree on the price.
Most tasks end up costing less than $100 and take under two hours to complete. The freelancer gets temporary access to your site and you only pay if you’re satisfied with the work.
