SafetyKart, a Gurgaon-based e-commerce platform for safety and hygiene products operated by SafetyKart Retail Pvt. Ltd, has raised an undisclosed amount from a Gurgaon-based venture capital and special situation investment firm Redcliffe Capital.
Dheeraj Jain, managing Director at RedCliffe Capital, elaborating about the investment said:
RedCliffe Capital has bought a 10% stake in SafetyKart.com and a sizeable share in RedCliffe Hygiene with a board seat. We have made $1 million commitment across milestones and phases of the brand building of products under RedCliffe Hygiene
Founded in 2013 by Vikas Bagaria, SafetyKart is claimed to be the online e-commerce platform that deals in safety and protection related products. The primary goal of the company was to provide maximum protection to people through our safety products.
While dealing with the safety products, they also had their focus on health and care related products. They claim to have all the solution to your safety and care especially in the case of women. The company suggests people to stop going to crowded malls, busy bazaars to shop related to your health and safety because their company understands all of the peoples’ needs.
As part of the deal, Redcliffe acquired SafetyKart’s PeeSafe and moved the product line into a newly founded entity Redcliffe Hygiene Pvt. Ltd.
It is reported that the company has sold over 100000 units in past 30 months of which 50% in last 12 months. and is currently being sold in countries like Australia, Nigeria, Kenya and Singapore and will soon be available in UAE, Spain, Ghana and Malaysia.
Regarding the PeeSafe, Vikas Bagaria said:
We have developed the most sold toilet seat sanitizer spray which has more than 50% repeat buyers. We have already sold 1lakh units of this product within and outside the country when we were bootstrapped. We were looking for the strategic partner who can help us to scale the business and take it to a larger audience in India and abroad. Dheeraj Jain believed in our concept and is equally passionate about this category and hence we decided to take a strategic investment from him
After joining hands with RedCliffe, Vikas Bagaria has joined the founding team of Redcliffe Hygiene and will be heading the venture, while SafetyKart will be led by a team of professionals.
After the deal, both the companies are expected to work together. Safetykart will focus on the e-commerce platform while RedCliffe Hygiene will focus on the distribution and production of products.
The market may soon get some more health related products by RedCliffe Hygiene which includes MoskitoSafe for safety from mosquito bites, GymSafe for unhygienic equipments at gyms, among others.
Broadening their selling spectrum, selling of these products will not only be restricted to SafetyKart but also e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart and offline retail stores will be selling these products.
