Big Fish Ventures, which owns and runs premium dining lounges such as the Junkyard Cafe, the Vault Cafe among others, has raised $11.1 Mn, approx. Rs. 75 crore, in the second round of funding from angel investors – including HNIs and founder Umang Tewari.
The startup was founded in 2015 by Umang Tewari. It owns and operates food and beverage outlets in casual dining, cafes and lounges under the brand names like Vault Cafe, The Junkyard Cafe, Public Connection, GaramDharam, Raas and Bandstand in the NCR.
In this year, the company is planning to expand its presence in Mumbai, by opening outposts, and its first overseas outlet in Dubai. Apart from this, it will also explore opportunities in other cities like Chandigarh, Jalandhar, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune.
Umang Tewari, founder of Big Fish Ventures, said, “The funds will be invested in expanding our existing brands, developing new concept-based brands and beefing up our technology in terms of presence on the mobile and online space.”
The startup is also working on developing new brands including courtyard concept Garden and a cafe called ‘OMG – Oh My God!’. Last month, it launched a mobile app for table reservations at its restaurants and commented that they will bring over 2 lakh customers on its mobile app by the year end is hopeful to do over 5,000 table reservations per day by June 2016.
