Kalaari Capital, one of the most active and leading venture capital firm from India, has launched a unique seed program named kstart – for entrepreneurs and early stage startups in India.
It is a seed model that combines all elements that a startup needs to succeed and scale. It will nurture startups via systematic program to fast-track their growth. The program is based on five key components – Capital, Catalysts, Partners, Kstart Institute and Respace.
It will offer capital of up to $500,000 in form of convertible equity. The founders will also have access to experience-based advice, committed guidance or open networks from the mentors called Kstart Catalysts to accelerate startup growth.
The program will also have partners, who will provide companies an access to their platforms, technology and expertise. It will help companies to focus on important aspects of building and growing a technology-driven venture. With Respace, it will foster peer-to-peer learning which will be in a form of meetups, workshops and industry events.
The catalysts includes the likes of Rajan Anandan, Varsha Rao, Ratan Tata, Zia Mody, Padmasree Warrior, Muthiah V, Anil K. Gupta, Meeta Malhotra, etc. They will also be the co-investor in the companies.
In the year 2015, Kalaari Capital had invested in around 14 startups at early stage. These companies includes InstaMojo, Robosoft, AppsDaily, Swipe, etc.
